Student Voice
At The Levels School, we place students at the heart of everything we do. An essential part of our child-centred approach is our Student Voice program, which ensures that students' voices are integral to the decision-making process. Student Voice is an empowering platform where students are heard and valued.
All students are encouraged to engage with the decision-making process through The Levels School Student Council. In addition to this formal feedback forum, we strive to create an environment at The Levels School where students feel comfortable approaching staff to share their ideas or concerns in an organic way.
Student Voice - Processes
To ensure that students' voices are integral to the decision-making process at The Levels School and is an empowering platform where students are heard and valued, the following processes are implemented over a 2-week period throughout the academic year.
- Each tutor will elect one student council member.
- The student council will meet every fortnight during tutor on Monday mornings.
- Students will bring forward items for discussion at each meeting, following tutor debate.
- Each item will be discussed.
- Agreed actions will be formalised where relevant and a timescale allocated.
- Students will give a summary of the meeting to their tutor.
- During the subsequent meeting/s, feedback on the progress will be given and either the matter deemed closed or carried forward.
- The next set of agenda items will be raised, discussed and actions agreed.
Minutes of each meeting and a summary of actions taken will be saved and will be accessible to all students and staff. A summary of actions is also shared via the school newsletter.
