Children’s Mental Health Week 2023
8th February was Children’s Mental Health Day. Students spent the whole afternoon doing a selection of activities to cover many areas of mental health. The owls made a reappearance. Students immediately felt relaxed and still in the unique atmosphere created by these beautiful creatures.
Some students were hand-picked to attend a yoga session with Mrs Wolfman, and all students had a fun session. Play is a really important part of mental health for all ages, expressing joy, having fun, and enjoying a lightness in communication at the same time (Dan Hughes, PACE).
Games included throwing a hat onto a staff member's head from the furthest distance, making the best self-portrait from breakfast cereal, and drawing a fast animal whilst running. There were lots of laughs, and many staff and students felt that we should do this more often!
Assemblies were run by Mrs Fouracre, and tutors ran activities in the mornings to give a full experience of this important weekly topic. Thanks to all students and staff, and to Michelle at Owl Enlightenment for making this a great week.
